Facility Centre update
Grant-writing, fundraising and on-the-ground work continues with the new Facility Centre. We were able to get the building to lock up by the end of last year and, despite the anticipated reduction in cash flow, in 2020 we’ll install the windows and doors, lay the concrete floor, and have at least one washroom operational. Work parties will be organized once again this year, but only in small groups where social distancing and safe work practices can be implemented.
Due to our partnership with School District 8 we are able to provide charitable donation receipts.
The Nelson Tennis Club may be one of the most beautifully situated clubs anywhere, with views of Kootenay Lake and Elephant Mountain.
The Nelson Tennis Club has operated as a non-profit, community sports club for over 30 years. We have recently moved to a brand new four court facility located right above LV Rogers Secondary School.
The club has a small, elected executive for its operation while other volunteer members help maintain the courts and organize play or tournaments. A hired coach runs the Summer Junior Tennis Program and provides instruction for adult players. The playing season lasts from April through November. During the year, a variety of instructional programs and tennis activities are offered. Playing time is not limited unless members are waiting, at which time court use is restricted to one hour.
